WELCOME TO MY WORLD
I came to West Meck High School in the Fall of 1998 as a substitute teacher. I was then hired in January of 1999 to teach English. I taught English from 1999 until 2010. I really enjoyed teaching English literature and grammar and writing. I still keep in touch with some of my former English students who share with me fond memories of being in my class. I spent many years teaching my English classes like college level classes to give students the exposure they needed to be successful at the collegiate level.
In 2001, I was approached about teaching a course called AVID. I didn't know anything about it, but once a listened to "the pitch," I was forever hooked! I loved the idea of teaching kids about college so working with AVID was right up my alley!
Finally, in 2010, I decided to transition away from teaching English to the AVID Coordinator/AVID Elective Teacher position, which gave me the opportunity to work directly with college bound students and I have been working with them ever since! AVID has changed many of our students' lives and I am proud to be a part of that!
